Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada’s export credit agency, offering innovative financing, insurance and risk management solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. As a crown corporation, EDC’s mandate is to grow and develop Canada’s trade, and the capacity of Canadian companies to participate in and respond to international business opportunities. EDC provides trade finance and risk mitigation services to Canadian companies to help them compete internationally.

Through a competitive procurement process, Broccolini Construction has been awarded the mandate to design, develop and construct EDC’s LEED Gold Head Office. Situated in the heart of Ottawa’s Central Business District at the corner of O’Connor and Slater Streets (150 Slater Street), EDC will be the beneficiary of a landmark office tower for many years to come. This building represents the largest office construction project in downtown Ottawa in the past 25 years.

150 Slater Street will add depth and sophistication to the Ottawa skyline and raise the bar for future developments for years to come. A recessed and set-back design up to the 5th floor will allow 150 Slater Street to interact with the urban landscape upon which it will sit. Occupying 100% of the office space, EDC’s employees will benefit from Broccolini’s innovative design that maximizes functional space with an environment that encourages flexible workspace and promotes collaboration. Composed of metal and glass curtain wall with full glazing, the exterior envelope maximizes the use of natural light fostering a pleasant work environment.

The design and development stage of this signature project was initiated in 2008, with a construction start in the first quarter of 2009 and occupancy slated for November 2011.
