Broccolini officially broke ground today on the new Broccolini Corporate Center Saint-Laurent 2 situated in the Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus. The project represents an investment of $30 million. Once completed in spring 2015, Hospira Healthcare Corporation will inaugurate its Canadian head office as anchor resident in the multi-tenant complex.

Mr. Alan DeSousa, Mayor of Saint-Laurent, Mr. Roger Plamondon , Senior Vice President, Real Estate Development and Acquisitions of Broccolini, Mr. Gerry Stefanatos, Corporate Vice President and President, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, Hospira and Mr. Mario Monette, President and CEO of Technoparc Montréal attended the ceremony.

The future LEED® Silver 135,000 square feet modern commercial class 'A' office building symbolizes Broccolini's continued contribution to the West-Island's growth and competitiveness. "Broccolini's approach to sustainable design and construction extends beyond environmental considerations. Our experience and expertise enables us to design, build and manage workplaces that meet the needs of the modern workforce, reinforcing our tenants appeal in attracting top talent, thus contributing to their growth," expressed Mr. Roger Plamondon , Senior Vice President, Real Estate Development and Acquisitions of Broccolini. The complex is Broccolini's second project in the Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus, and will add to its list of LEED® certified building. As a contractor and developer, the company completed over forty projects on the West Island.

"Hospira's move to the Technoparc represents the next step in the evolution of our business in Canada as Hospira expands its product portfolio," said Gerry Stefanatos, Corporate Vice President and President, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, Hospira. "As Hospira focuses on growing our generic injectable and biosimilars business in Canada, we are ensuring that our teams have the appropriate physical presence to support our efforts providing important healthcare products."

The five-storey building will offer amenities, such as a full service cafeteria, a shared gym for all tenants, a green roof and an outside terrace. Its location will also offer easy access to public transportation and proximity to the Montréal–Trudeau international airport. Furthermore, the complex will qualify for property tax discount programs, which should be a great incentive for other future tenants.

" The Council of Saint-Laurent applauds this significant investment highlighting yet again another excellent collaboration with Broccolini, an important partner in the development of the Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus. Moreover, we commend the engagement and confidence demonstrated by Hospira for this project, whose presence in our community will further stimulate Montreal's Life Sciences and Health Technology Cluster," said Mr. Alan DeSousa, Mayor of Saint-Laurent.

"The arrival of Hospira in the Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus will further strengthen Montréal's leadership in the generic pharmaceutical industry. The company complements the variety of pharmaceutical companies already present in the Technoparc, which ranges from R&D to commercialization," indicated Mario Monette, President and CEO of Technoparc Montréal.
